Sentinel Security

Worked as a full-time security guard during the summer and part-time during the fall/winter study period by picking up 24 hours of work per week. This job experience was one of the most stepping stone and turning point of my growth as a professional and growth of my personality. The skills I learned from that job were tremendous. I was a Security Guard that is responsible for securing a 40 story building providing the maximum security and great customer service to its tenant.

Job responsibilities:

The responsibilities of that Job was mainly patrolling, monitoring, issuing reports with hourly work update, issuing detailed and professional incident reports, investigating in offenses, and most importantly providing a high customer service.

Experience:

I acquired skills that helped me to conduct professional communication like reports writing. Also, it taught me to be aware and calm during emergencies like alarms. This is an important trait because it showed my ability to respond and act quickly and wisely during emergencies.  In addition, being a security guard taught me to be a problem solver. Instead of asking my manager for a solution to a problem, I try to be proactive security guard by solving this problem systematically in accordance to the law, then notifying my supervisor in the form of an official report. Furthermore, I learned to be polite, yet firm with the tenants, especially when they request unacceptable orders. Overall, this job taught me to react professionally during my work.

Personally, the job helped me to grow my character. I learned to manage my time efficiently; the time was managed between work and school effectively. I also applied the skills acquired from my job to my lifestyle. For example, I applied my formal, both oral and written, communication into my school assignments and reports. They have to be professional, detailed, clear, coherent.
